SMART Challenge
As an established kitchen manufacturer and distributor, Lanzet for 25 years has been supplying high end kitchens to the contract market – house builders and developers. Nigel Grasham explains the challenges they faced “Utilising internal systems had worked well in the short term, although we got to a stage where we felt there was a need to re-evaluate our processes. Our main goal was to create improved data links between departments and in the longer
term free up more time to focus on new growth opportunities.
SMART Decision
Lanzet had reviewed a number of software packages, and had begun to feel that nothing matched its individual business needs.
The main decision behind choosing SMART Nigel explains was “We had discovered a solution created specifically for the kitchen industry with a number of key attributes that could be tailored specifically to our contract market”.
SMART Results
In 2005, Lanzet implemented SMART within its business and since then feels it has significantly benefited from the investment. Nigel comments, “Working within the contract market involves quoting and re-quoting for jobs and particularly for volume work, it’s essential that a high degree of accuracy is maintained. I feel SMART has been invaluable in offering greater accuracy and speed, whilst enabling us to offer an improved service to our clients”. Nigel goes on further to explain how SMART’s functionality has assisted in a greater sharing of information and a greater visibility over work-in-progress. He comments, “At the touch of the button I am able to see how jobs are progressing - exactly ‘where we are’ - and how long each stage is taking. This has given us back time, allowing us to focus on important areas such as fit-standard and improving customer satisfaction. In addition, we have improved substantially order processing speeds, ensuring resources throughout the business are used more effectively, without the need to recruit additional staff”.
